“Call the police! A robbery has taken place on Australian Idol!”
Dylan Wright has been crowned the winner of Australian Idol 2024 but not all fans are pleased with his victory.
The action-packed March 25 finale saw Dylan battle it out with Denvah Baker-Moller and Amy Reeves for the crown via public vote.
The 30-year-old father-of-two walked away with a Sony Music Entertainment recording contract and a whopping $100,000 prize money.

“I’m about to cry! So, thanks!” Dylan gushed before taking to the Australian Idol stage to perform his winner’s single Paper Heart.
While many celebrated the NSW painter’s victory on social media, criticism that Amy hadn’t won soon took over.
Fans claim Amy Reeves was ‘robbed’ of Australian Idol 2024 win
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), one disgruntled fan penned: “Call the police! A robbery has taken place on #AustralianIdol. Amy has been absolutely shafted. Easily the best performer in Idol history.”

Meanwhile, another viewer reminded Amy that Jessica Mauboy was the runner-up during her season.
“She’s currently touring the nation. The guy who won, I believe, hosts community radio. You’ll be a-okay,” they wrote, referring to Damien Leith, who hosts breakfast radio on Wave FM in the Illawarra.
“What? Dylan won! He has a sweet voice, not a great voice. Amy was robbed,” a third claimed.
“Shocked Amy didn’t win. I thought she was the best singing show contestant in some time,” another said.
Amy was totally robbed, she’ll actually have the bigger career out of this. That single from Dylan was a shocker #AustralianIdol
