The Gold Logie winner was put on blast for her “crude” commentary.
Channel Seven has revealed who will host Dancing with the Stars Australia 2025 following backlash about current host Sonia Kruger.
ICYMI: Fans of the long-running dance competition got their knickers in a knot on social media, criticising Sonia for her “crude” commentary on the show.
One insider even dished that the network had copped “several complaints” about the Gold Logie winner‘s jokes, which some said weren’t suitable for family audiences.

However, despite viewers’ displeasure with Sonia’s cheeky innuendos, it’s since been revealed that the TV veteran — and her co-host Chris Brown — are here to stay!
“Sonia and Chris being put together on Dancing With The Stars is a really big investment from the network,” a source told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“Channel Seven always knew this was their first step and they have enjoyed watching them get to know each other on camera.”
The insider claimed that “by next year”, viewers “will have forgotten what this show looked like” before the Sonia-Chris team-up.
“The audience always takes some time with adjustments to these long-running shows,” they continued. “Maybe they will tone some of the innuendos down and find a different rhythm, but that’s a conversation for the big bosses at Seven to have rather than the hosts.”
Dancing with the Stars backlash ‘not getting in the way’ of Sonia Kruger’s job
While Sonia hasn’t commented on viewers’ complaints, her former boss told Yahoo Lifestyle that the 58-year-old isn’t fazed by the backlash.
“One minute, you’re a Gold Logie winner, and the next, you are being pulled down a few notches. It’s very Australian!” they exclaimed. “It says more about our industry and our tall poppy syndrome – don’t you think?
“Sure, the show’s format can be a little bawdy, but that’s on brand. Dancing is a sexy industry and Sonia grew up in it — that humour is in her DNA.”

The insider also added that “nobody follows the brief as well as [Sonia] does” when it comes to her work.
“Channel Seven would have had a dozen board meetings about what this season would look like and that is well before Sonia even picked up her microphone,” they explained.
“DWTS doesn’t take itself too seriously and I don’t think parents are as sensitive as what some viewers are claiming to be. I hope this doesn’t affect her chance of winning back-to-back Gold Logie because that would be unfair.”v
