Jason Kidd led the Dallas Mavericks to a sensational NBA finals to mark a date with destiny. His family and friends would hope to be in the stands to watch his team play and lift the coveted Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. His wife, Porschla Coleman, has supported him for a long time and would love to see him lift his second NBA title. Yet, his relationship with his wife comes after a toxic relationship with his first wife, Joumana Kidd.

So, who is Joumana Kidd, whom he had three children with? What went wrong in the couple’s relationship? Let’s explore.

When did Jason Kidd and Joumana get married?

Joumana was born in 1972 in San Francisco and met Kidd when he was 19 in 1992. At that time, Kidd ruled the basketball scenario in high school, dishing out dimes and becoming the hottest pick in the draft. The couple then hit it off and embarked on a new relationship. While Kidd played basketball, Joumana was an actor and an upcoming journalist.

From the San Francisco State University, Joumana received her Communications BS degree, paving the way for her new career. After that, she tied the knot with Kidd in 1997 and had their first child, Trey Jason. After being a homemaker for several years, she finally got her break by being the host for NBA television. TV shows and contracts came thick and fast as she worked for Extra, an entertainment television show. Soon after, she became the face of the TV by hosting Grammy awards and various other shows.

She joined the VH1 reality series “Let’s Talk About Pep“ in 2010. Additionally, she made several guest appearances on “Bethenny“ as a commentator and hosted her own show called “Women on Women“ (WOW) on NET TV (Catholic Cable TV Network). The couple had three children: Trey and twins, Miah and Jazelle. Yet, all hell broke loose.

Legal issues and domestic abuse troubles for the couple

After their long relationship, Jason Kidd filed for divorce in 2007, as he accused her of ‘extreme cruelty‘ during the course of their marriage. Earlier, reports emerged of Kidd being involved in domestic violence. The concerned legal authorities arrested Kidd in 2001 after Joumana complained of him hitting her in front of their son, Trey. The NBA star pleaded guilty to spousal abuse and was fined $200 and also took anger management training.

Following all the commotion, Kidd decided to file for divorce, claiming that Joumana Kidd had been physically and mentally abusive towards him, making threats by falsely accusing him of domestic violence and interfering with his relationship with their children. Many instances were reported where, once, Joumana took her son into the locker room to check Kidd’s phone. Later, she left her son behind only to hurl insults at Kidd during the game.

After all the fiasco, the couple were separated, and Kidd married Porschla Coleman and happily lives with their five children.
