The Block’s Jasmin Neuwen has shared some huge chemotherapy news after her recent shock cancer diagnosis.

Jasmin, 40, who appeared on the 2020 season of The Block with her husband Luke, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer after undergoing her first-ever mammogram.

In October, Jasmin underwent a six-hour surgery to remove both of her breasts just weeks after sharing the heartbreaking news of her diagnosis publicly.

Taking to Instagram this week, Jasmin revealed that she will not need to undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatment.

Posting a video that detailed her recent cancer struggle supported by husband Luke and children Lola and Sonny, Jasmin shared the exciting news to her 33,000 followers.

‘So last week my medical team got my full pathology results and they had a meeting…they came to the conclusion that I DON’T NEED CHEMOTHERAPY or RADIATION,’ Jasmin began the expansive post.

‘I’ve been in a state of shock for a week as I process this great but… unexpected news.’

She added that her pathology indicated that her tumour was smaller as first thought, and was not present in her lymph nodes.

‘All of this, combined with the fact that I had a double mastectomy, means less active treatment following my surgery,’ she said.

‘I will still need to start on the hormone blocking medication after my upcoming oncologist appointment.’

Jasmin continued, revealing that she was also going to be undergoing genetic testing, adding that she was interested in a specific test done in the US.

‘I’m also having some genetic testing done and I’m going to ask my oncologist about having the Oncotype DX test. This is a test done in the USA,’ she said.

‘My tumor tissue is sent there for comprehensive testing. This test basically comes back with a reoccurrence score, which is basically a statistical score of it coming back.’

Adding that she would defer to her oncologist’s opinion about the test Jasmin said she wanted to have every tool possible at her disposal.

‘To me, it’s like a second opinion because my stance has been to do everything now to make sure this f***er doesn’t come back,’ she said.

Admitting that she still had to ‘overcome her fear of reoccurrence’ which ‘terrified’ her Jasmin said that her recent news had buoyed her outlook.

‘It’s been a physically and emotionally draining couple of months. But I honestly feel like it’s onwards and upwards from here,’ she said.

‘We essentially put all life plans on hold and now it seems like life can resume. It’s very surreal.

‘So even though my breast cancer journey feels strangely done, but it’s actually just starting.

In October, Jasmin documented the lead-up to her mastectomy procedure in hospital as she was supported by Luke, Lola and Sonny.

In a series of Instagram posts, Luke explained that Jasmin was getting a double mastectomy and having a hernia removed in a six-hour-long operation.

‘She went into it with high spirits and I just keep getting blown away with how strong this woman is,’ he gushed.

‘We just want to say from the bottom of our hearts how much all of your kind words and messages of strength mean to us. We can’t get back to them all but know they are heard.’

‘Jasmin in now two hours into a double mastectomy (and a small hernia while they’ve got the tools out),’ he added.

Luke then filmed Jasmin as she came out of the operation, posting photographs of her still smiling as she recovered in her hospital bed.

‘Can’t take a bad photo this woman! She is doing great and has already eaten half a block of chocolate,’ he wrote in one caption.
