Scheduling conflicts were previously cited as the reason several stars left the show.
It’s been revealed why The Voice Australia had a massive overhaul in star coaches for its upcoming 2024 season.
ICYMI: it was revealed in January that Guy Sebastian would be the only current coach to return this year, with Jessica Mauboy and Jason Derulo both going on tour, and Rita Ora joining The Masked Singer America.
It was later announced in February that the Australian Idol 2003 winner would be joined by LeAnn Rimes, Adam Lambert and Kate Miller-Heidke.

While the sentiment was mainly that scheduling conflicts led to the coaching lineup being revamped for 2024, an insider has since claimed pay disputes were behind the shake-up.
One source told Yahoo Lifestyle, “The decision was made last year, and the casting team were looking for quite some time.
“When you have stars returning each year, it becomes expensive. You really need to keep increasing their salary to keep them and eventually, they become too expensive.”
They added: “The company line was that Jessica, Rita and Jason were all too busy, but I don’t think anyone is too busy to pick up these sorts of pay cheques.
“It certainly did have a lot to do with keeping the costs down.”
Channel Seven is ‘nervous’ about new The Voice Australia coaches
The insider also let slip that Channel Seven is “nervous” about the reception of the new coaches. Particularly because previous lineups have been extremely popular with The Voice fans.

Noting that Jason‘s addition in 2023 was a “big risk”, the source said having him return in 2024 was “obviously too expensive.”
“Meanwhile, Rita’s feeling was that she had exceeded what she could bring to the format and certainly wasn’t going to come back without a pay rise, especially knowing Guy was getting top billing,” they explained.
“Jessica was also asking for equal pay with Guy, and that could have been a reason why she left. If the ratings drop, she will likely be the first one asked back.
“The decision to let her go could hurt the show, and everyone knows it.”
We guess we’ll find out if that proves true when The Voice Australia 2024 airs in August!
