“I get you’re trying to make a living but it comes across as hard pyramid selling.”
Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s Samantha Moitzi has denied that her latest business venture, selling Monat products, is a pyramid scheme.
In recent months, Samantha — who was matched with Al Perkins during the ninth season of the marriage experiment — has been spruiking haircare products on Instagram, sharing that she “gets paid weekly” for on-selling Monat shampoo.
“I LOVE FRIDAYS — I get paid monthly from my 9-5, so a weekly pay injection has completely changed the game for me — and all from legitimately LOVING what I do,” she wrote in May.

In the caption, she also urged her fans to follow in her footsteps, telling them to “DM [her] ‘hair’ to know more”.
Monat is a well-known multi-level marketing company that sells haircare, skincare and wellness products.
Multi-level marketing (also referred to as pyramid schemes) is the practice of selling goods on behalf of a company in a system where sellers receive a commission on their sales.
They also earn a commission on the sales of any sellers they personally recruit to do the same.
Followers hit out at Samantha Moitzi for ‘hard pyramid selling’
Sharing the DM of a concerned follower on her Instagram Story, Samantha justified her posting of Monat promos.
In the message, the user said they previously “loved seeing [her] content” before the haircare sales.
“It’s too hard selling; to be honest, I skip through most of your Story now,” they wrote.

They also claimed Samantha sent a “bulk message” to followers about Monat that “proves” their point.
In her response, which she also shared on her Story, Samantha said she “genuinely pay[s]” and loves Monat.
“I’ve never really been able to connect with my followers more because I am actually helping women with hair concerns but actually asking questions, etc, and meeting new girls and motivating them through the business,” she said.

Samantha Moitzi denies being part of a ‘pyramid scheme’
In another message, Samantha said she hopes her Monat work can “pay some of [her] debts“.
“Along with my full-time income so I can actually live the life I want,” she told the unidentified follower.
“Because I think people forget Instagram doesn’t pay for you having a blue tick and a few followers.”
Samantha also denied she was doing anything untoward in selling with Monat.
“Also, it’s not a pyramid scheme,” she declared. “They are illegal.”

In one final Story, using a clip of herself on MAFS saying, “Don’t talk sh*t about me”, Samantha thanked the user for their feedback.
“I know it likely comes from a good place. Just being honest because people just don’t understand sometimes,” she concluded.
