Another notch in their hosting belt!
Osher Günsberg is out and Sonia Kruger is in, if reports about The Golden Bachelor Australia‘s host are to be believed.
ICYMI: Channel Ten shelved The Bachelor Australia (along with The Masked Singer) in 2024 after 10 years in the reality romance biz.
However, Channel Nine has since jumped on the success of the US franchise’s seniors’ dating show, with the network to “formally announce” its acquisition of The Golden Bachelor at its 2025 Upfronts event in October.

While details about the inaugural Aussie season are still up in the air, Yahoo Lifestyle revealed the TV darling Sonia is at the top of Nine’s list to host.
“The word on the street is that Sonia could reboot The Golden Bachelor on Channel Nine in 2025,” an insider told the outlet.
“Channel Nine loved working with Sonia and everyone would welcome her back with open arms.”
Channels Seven and Nine amid ‘bidding war’ to lock down Sonia Kruger
Over the past decade or so, Sonia has flip-flopped between channels Seven and Nine.
She previously left Seven in 2011 to take on Nine’s revival of Big Brother Australia, before returning to the network in 2020.
Since then, she has hosted multiple shows under the network, including another Big Brother stint, Dancing with the Stars and The Voice Australia.
However, with Big Brother officially axed, there is reportedly a “hole” in Sonia’s contract.

So, where will she land come 2025?
“There is a real bidding war which will see two networks keen to lock her services down in the new year,” a source revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle.
Despite rumours there’s a bidding war for Sonia’s talents, it was reported that she will return for DWTS in 2025. Hmm…
Sonia Kruger offers ‘class’ as potential The Golden Bachelor host
Per the insider, “The Bachelor is going to look very different to how Network Ten has been making the show”.
As such, Sonia’s “class” is what executives are hoping will make The Golden Bachelor more “lux”.

“The ambition is to appeal to a wider audience and make it a yearly feature on the network,” they explained. “There is no reason it won’t be as big as MAFS in a couple of years.
“The Channel Seven star is yet to hear what the lineup for 2025 will look like if she stays with the network but with Big Brother cancelled there is a hole in her contract that will need to be fixed if she is to be picked up again.”
The Golden Bachelor‘s foray into the Australian market follows the success of the first-ever US season in 2023, which featured 72-year-old Gerry Turner on his quest for love.
