Love Island Australia star Eilisha Purcell will have an unlikely friend to turn to for advice on navigating her newfound fame after being eliminated from the dating show on Tuesday night. Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal the 25-year-old is secretly related to Miley Cyrus and even celebrated her birthday at the pop superstar’s home in Malibu, California last year.
Eilisha and Miley are related through the marriage of her uncle, Dominic Purcell, and Miley’s mother, Tish. The pair wed in a beautiful ceremony in July 2023 at Miley’s home.
Eilisha, who is very close to her uncle, was one of the few people invited to the intimate ceremony and attended with her mother, Dominic’s sister, Marie-Theresa.
Yahoo Lifestyle understands the mother and daughter stayed at the Cyrus family residence while in America as they got to know their new in-laws, and Trish even threw Eilisha a birthday party days before the wedding.
Months after the wedding last year, Eilisha shared a series of throwback pictures from the ceremony – with one image showing her partying alongside Miley.
“My little mermaid nieces,” Tish commented on her post, seemingly cementing her place in the family.
Eilisha Purcell eliminated from Love Island Australia
After being eliminated from Love Island Australia, Eilisha revealed that she hoped to go to LA for some time.
She took to Instagram to share a message with her followers that read: “It’s been a crazy journey but I’m so grateful that I was able to be a part of this incredible opportunity with incredible people. I’ll never forget the memories I made this summer.”
The reality star continued, “As someone with ADHD, I’m incredibly proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing this experience head-on. A lot happens in a day and only 45 minutes of that is shown on the show but I know I will remember every second of it.
“I didn’t fall in love which is disappointing but the friendships I made along the way make up for it. Last but not least thank you to everyone who’s supported me on my journey and shown love – it truly means the world! Can’t wait to see what’s next.”
