It’s certainly not what you’d expect!
While alcohol may seem like a free-for-all on Love Island Australia, it turns out there are strict limits on how much booze the contestants can drink in the villa.
So, no — being too intoxicated is NOT an excuse for some of the Islanders’ questionable behaviour!
According to a spokesperson from Nine, the Love Island stars are “allowed two units of alcohol per day”.

“This is something they are aware of before entering the villa,” they told So Dramatic!.
There are also no extra allowances for special dates or Hideaway rendezvous either, despite the couples seemingly guzzling down champas in celebration.
“If they go on a date or to the Hideaway, they are given fruity non-alcoholic champagne to enjoy.” The more you know!
Past Love Island Australia Contestants Were Grateful For the Alcohol Limits
Love Island Australia 2019‘s Jessie Wynter previously admitted that she was “thankful” there were alcohol restrictions while filming.
Chatting to host Megan Pustetto in episode 123 of the So Dramatic! podcast, she said: “I’m kind of thankful we couldn’t drink too much because that would have been a mess.
“But we got two wines per night. It wasn’t every night that we got the wines, so when we did get them, we were really excited.”
In the past, however, some Islanders managed to cheat the system (or it just wasn’t in place yet), with Love Island UK star Molly-Mae Hague dishing how Maura Higgins once got “so drunk” in the villa.

“Some people still manage to get drunk off because they’re actually quite big glasses,” she told Closer.
“One night, Maura actually took my glass, downed it in the larder [a little room where they keep all the drinks], filled it up with water and then put it back.
“She had three glasses of wine and was so drunk. It was so funny.”
