It’s been revealed why Jake O’Brien really disappeared from FBOY Island Australia 2024 and man, is it a doozy!

ICYMI: the former The Amazing Race and Ex on the Beach: Couples contestant made a very brief appearance in the premiere episode of FBOY Island Season Two.

However, it was revealed at the first dumping ceremony that the 31-year-old had GHOSTED the show, never to be seen again!

While little reason was given for his swift departure in the episode, we’ve gotten our hands on some piping-hot tea about why he went MIA.

As reported in episode 408 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one insider confirmed that it was Jake’s choice to leave FBOY Island.

“He said that producers and [host] Abbie [Chatfield] kept bullying him about his voice, and his voice is like that because he had throat cancer cut out,” they said.

“He was really upset about it and decided he wasn’t going to put up with that, so he left.” Fair enough!

Jake was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer in January 2020 after developing a hoarse voice, an experience he’s documented heavily on social media.

He is now cancer-free.

FBOY Island star Jake O’Brien’s former colleague describes him as ‘the WORST’

In the same pod episode, a former colleague revealed their experience with Jake, describing him as “the worst”.

“He was a massage therapist at my work and behaved like a total pig,” the source claimed. “He ended up ‘parting ways’ with the owner as he was lazy. Wouldn’t show up for shifts and didn’t do anything when he did.”

The co-worker alleged that Jake would “act as if he was hot sh*t” because of his large TikTok following.

“This was just before he went on The Amazing Race [in 2022],” they continued.

“I was the receptionist, and he would completely ignore me unless he had to speak to me and would be rude to the younger staff. One of them introduced herself to him, and he said, ‘Your name doesn’t matter’.”

The insider added: “He was so gross and rude we used to have to sage the place after he left.

“He would always be rude to only female staff, not the male staff. I get the impression he doesn’t think much of women.”

Safe to say he would’ve been uncovered as an FBoy quick sticks!
