“It goes against the entire format of the show.”
Fans have been calling for a season of Love Island Australia that isn’t pre-recorded, and we wholeheartedly back this.
Besides the first three seasons, the hit dating show has featured a pre-recorded format.
Instead of having public votes throughout, a select group of producers “Superfans” with early access to the show, have had the power to control decisions affecting the Islanders and influence voting.

However, disgruntled viewers have taken to Reddit to beg for the show’s old live voting format to return.
“I can’t with this franchise,” one user said. “We’ll never get back to the Season One quality, where some of the Islanders also turned into ‘It Girls’, like Cassidy [McGill], Tayla [Damir] and Erin [Barnett] with major followings.”
“There’s no reason to pre-record. It goes against the entire format of the show,” another Redditor penned.
“I agree! I loved the first season,” another added. “Enough with the Superfans. That stupid format defeats the whole spirit of Love Island.” Preach!
A fourth user said the earlier seasons were WAY better than the recent ones.
“The producers can easily make a comeback, but they’re just dumb. The show would be more interesting if the villa were bigger, the show was live, there was live public voting and Casa Amor,” they said
Love Island Australia fans think villains would be kicked off the show earlier with public voting
Another person claimed that villains would be kicked off the show earlier if the public were allowed to vote.
“[Pre-recording] kills the drama for bombs coming in that have been watching,” they claimed.
“Reid [Polak] wouldn’t have gotten away with HALF the sh*t he did last season if it was airing live! Neither would Zac [Nunns] or Trent [Woolman].”
Redditors claimed red flags like 2023 stars Nunns and Trent Woolman would’ve been booted earlier if the public were allowed to vote. Source: Nine
The source added that Ben Richardson, “the most genuine, polite and respectful Islander of all seasons”, may have had a chance of finding love on-screen if fans had more of a say.
Fans reckon Love Island Australia should be canned
Others claimed the show was well past its expiry date.
“Shut it down! Lol,” one netizen penned.
Another agreed: “This series is over. Been over for two seasons. We shouldn’t watch it. It’ll be cheap trash.” Ouch!
