Fans of The Block have slammed the show’s auction process after the 2024 finale.

In the nail-biting grand final episode of the Channel Nine show, which saw Maddy and Charlotte win the competition, Adrian ‘Mr Lambo’ Portelli made broke records by buying all 5 houses in the Phillip Island resort for over $15million.

While many fans celebrated Maddy and Charlotte’s win, some were not happy with the familiar faces who were bidding at the auctions.

As with many recent seasons of the renovation show, businessmen Portelli, Danny Wallis and David Brandi were present and made the majority of the bids.

Taking to X on Sunday, viewers expressed their frustration with this roster of buyers.

’26 million people in Australia. But 3 blokes buying most of The Block homes every season. I’d love to see a family bid and win their dream home,’ wrote one user.

Another asked, ‘Why do they ask how many buyers each pair have when it’s the same dudes bidding?’

‘They acting like they had competitive and genuine buyers but its just these celeb millionaires,’ someone else wrote.

‘Would really like to see an actual auction with genuine buyers instead of these wankers with silly money,’ wrote another viewer.

One more claimed that the auctions were staged, and that the show was ‘not real.’

‘The Block is not a real show anymore. It’s rigged by sponsors and not even a true auction now. Adrian Portelli just spends the most money on his favourite couple. What a pointless series. It was clearly scripted. What a load of crap,’ they wrote.

With their reserve set at $1.95 million, Maddy and Charlotte walk away with an incredible $1.55 million profit, plus the $100,000 grand prize.

‘We are just so grateful, and it’s a very surreal feeling,’ said Maddy of their win.

‘You can’t anticipate how something like The Block will end, but it is the perfect ending for us. I think there is such a special relationship with sisters, and I’m so proud of both of us and how hard we worked.’

Charlotte added, ‘To end The Block on such a high note is so special. We never thought it would go like this.

‘I could not have had this experience with anyone else but Maddy. We have been in this from the beginning, so it’s an incredible feeling for both of us now.’

Maddy and Charlotte concluded: ‘This has been the experience of a lifetime. Winning this much money is life-changing for us. We can’t believe Adrian loved our house as much as we do!’

‘It’s a fantastic result,’ said host Scott Cam.

‘I’m so pleased for the girls to win it, and they deserve it. All of the houses have sold, and it’s a fantastic way to finish the 20th season of the show, with all five couples making some decent coin.
