The Block 2024
‘s Paige Beechey has slammed the show for using her mental health as entertainment in a series of spicy TikToks.

During the September 9 episode of the renovation show, she and fiancé Jesse Maguire revealed they’d opted to quit the competition to preserve their mental well-being.

It followed an extensive series of tense and often uncomfortable scenes in which the engaged couple fought and expressed their displeasure with their experience.

Taking to TikTok on September 11, Paige told her followers that after watching the episode, she felt The Block was “capitalising” on her declining mental health by using it as entertainment.

“The way they handled that whole mental health departure was just such a gross display of a TV show trying to cash grab for relevancy… And it’s really clear that they’re trying to step into their woke era,” she expressed.

“Whilst you’re seeing this one narrative on TV, we’re living this complete other narrative and that’s what I think is such a disgusting manipulation and capitalisation on our mental health scenario to cash grab at being progressive and having care for mental health.”

Paige added that any implementation of Nine’s “duty of care” was all surface level.

“They want you to crack, they want you to crumble, they want this to be a TV show of just drama, under the guise of a family-friendly renovation show.”

Paige Beechey condemns The Block for editing show to make her ‘look crazy’

Elsewhere in the three-part TikTok series, Paige said she and Jesse were shocked to learn that their first couple of weeks on The Block were depicted drastically different onscreen.

“The first two weeks, Jesse and I were pretty good. We were smooth sailing; producers were calling me an energiser bunny. They were commending me on how well I was handling the pressures and the stress,” she explained.

“Producers changed the storyline by literally putting full sentences in my mouth, and that’s what we like to call franken-biting. They were chopping bits and bobs from everywhere and just smushing them together.”

She added: “They were just blatantly cutting conversations to make me look crazy.

“We were quite frustrated with the first two weeks of how we were depicted because it was just an editing shitshow.”

Paige’s explosive TikTok confessions come after she told So Dramatic! that “leaving the show was the best decision” they made.
