The Block is heading for a very uncomfortable final week on the job site and a drama-filled auction day following one of the most explosive weeks in the show’s history.
It was the week that The Block went full Married At First Sight and viewers were left in disbelief as the Kylie-Brad-Mimi flirt triangle scandal unfolded.
And one of the people at the centre of it all, Kylie, still looks like she’s on the warpath — if upcoming promos are to be believed, she might be about to turn her ire on host Scott Cam.
So what exactly happened that had rumours flying all over Phillip Island? Here are the six of the biggest moments from a wild week, and what it might mean moving forward.
1. ‘Flirty’ late night pool chats
What started it all was some innocent champagnes on night a around the fire pit between Kylie, Brad and Mimi — and ended with Kylie overhearing what everyone involved agrees were “inappropriate” comments and flirting between Brad and Mimi.
Exactly what happened between Mimi and Brad is left somewhat opaque, but we see Brad and Mimi chatting in the back yard late at night as he digs holes and Mimi asking Brad if he could catch her if she jumped off the balcony “or am I too heavy?”
Brad replied “No, I’d catch you”.
Near midnight Brad asked Mimi “Are you going to call me again in the morning or what? How come you called me?” with Mimi replying “I don’t want to talk about it. What I do when I’m drunk is none of my business.”
2. ‘I’d follow your OnlyFans’
Things hit the fan on Monday, as Brad discovers his wife’s abandoned car, then he watches a farewell video that Kylie sent to a producer.
Kylie clearly has had enough, dumping all her Block belongings in an Aldi carpark and makes her way to the airport to fly home to Cairns.
Then we hear Kylie telling her mum on the phone that she overheard Brad telling Mimi “You know I’d follow your OnlyFans.”
In another conversation with her mum, she breaks down saying “How many f***ing chances have I given him? I can’t be on national television with my marriage breaking down.
“It honestly disgusts me. The whole thing was in front of me. Like a friend has done that, but also my husband.”
3. ‘Destroyed my family’
Confessional time is normally for both couples to air their grievances, but Brad is left to do the regular couch interview with a producer alone as he uncomfortably has to detail his behaviour.
“It wasn’t my intent to set out to do it. I guess I’m really not thinking about what I’m doing at all, or anyone else. I’m embarrassed. I feel sorry for other people having to live with my choices. She’s the last person I want to hurt, her or my kids, but I managed to do it anyway.”
When the producer asks if he thinks the whole thing might blow over, Brad is clear.
“There’s no way this is going away or getting better. It’s done,” he says. “I’d very much say I’ve just single-handedly destroyed my family.”
4. Mimi caught in lies
The following morning over coffee, the baristas tell Mimi that Kylie has left the show and returned home to Cairns. Mimi claims to be shocked, but it’s not a performance that will help her parlay her reality show turn into an acting career.
“Has she gone, gone?” she asks, and when a producer asks her why she thinks Kylie might have left unconvincingly offers “maybe landscaping?”
When another contestant Courtney turns up and informs the baristas that she told Mimi the night before that Kylie had left they are taken aback.
“Oh so Mimi knew?” one says. “Interesting. Well I heard she’s involved.”
When a producer probes Mimi later – she says she was totally comfortable with the situation.
“I was at Kylie and Brad’s hanging out and drinking. We were just chatting and Kylie went to sleep on the deck next to us and I stayed chatting and maybe there were some comments that came across as flirty. I felt quite comfortable.
“Then Kylie was up and went to bed and that’s when it started and that’s when I left. It’s unfortunate Kylie overheard which led to her leaving which was not anyone’s intention,” she said.
5. Kylie’s explosive return
After Scott Cam and the producers speak to Kylie and convince her to return to Phillip Island, everyone isn’t quite sure how its going to go.
Brad makes the smart decision of moving out of their house and bunking at fellow contestants Ricky and Haydn’s house to give his wife some space.
Her initial re-entry into The Block is an icy one, as Kylie walked onto the site and immediately rejecting her husband’s peace offering of a coffee.
“If you hand me that I’m going to throw it at you,” she said.
Later there is audio played her telling Brad “do you understand what I heard? I feel like something happened. You’ve just completely annihilated our entire relationship.”
6. ‘Taking half and leaving your arse’
Upon her return, Kylie makes it very clear to everyone that she’s here to ensure she gets her half of whatever profits she and Brad make from the sale of their Block house.
“If I give up we’d get nothing, so even if it’s ten grand I’m taking half and I’m leaving your arse,” she tells him. “You keep the house then I’m f***ing off. I don’t even know if I’m staying in Cairns to be honest. There’s nothing there for me. You treat your partner like this you can f***ing deal with the consequences.”
Later she then accuses Brad of spending “ages” alone with Mimi after she went to bed, and questions why they were in the bathroom and what they were doing.
“In my mind I feel like something happened but my biggest concern is I had already voiced my concerns to you about her and how she feels about you and you’ve just completely gone with it and completely annihilated our entire relationship.”
Kylie also kept her distance from the “other woman” in this saga when contestants assembled on the site for a meeting – her first time seeing everyone since fleeing the show.
And things looked intensely awkward as with Brad stood by himself far away from the rest of the contestants.
So what might happen next? By the looks of it Kylie has had enough of the judges and Scott Cam, with promos showing her swearing at the long-time host and saying ‘I’m leaving’ again.
