After this year’s cast copped a sh*t-tonne of backlash for “bullying” co-stars and being generally unpleasant, Yahoo Lifestyle revealed that casting director Lucky Price, who’s worked on the show for 18 seasons, wouldn’t be returning next year.

“This was a real shock to The Block family, with contestants and producers sharing their stories from over the years. It’s the end of an era for sure,” one insider dished.

The source claimed that Lucky was the secret behind “many of the most iconic contestants”, such as Ronnie and Georgia CaceresMitch Edwards and Mark McKie, and Kristy and Brett Beames.

“From fan favourites to PG ‘villains’, it’s a real skill set to find personalities that audiences will either ‘love’ or ‘love to hate’,” they added.

“He’s unearthed talent from around Australia. It’ll be a noticeable departure from what we’ve been seeing on The Block.”

The insider then dished that Lucky’s exit meant that previous applicants would be able to give the casting process another shot, because they’d be “viewed by a different set of eyes”.

Who will star on The Block 2025?

Another source told the outlet that the 2025 season may see the return of former Blockheads.

Current contestant Courtney Freeman already expressed interest in returning to the show when she tagged co-star Mimi Belperio in the casting announcement.

“Round two?” she asked, to which Mimi replied: “Styled rooms with no walls? Sure!”

It comes after it was revealed that the 2025 season will take place in Daylesford, Victoria.
