“I’m not a maternal woman.”
The Block 2021‘s Kirsty Lee Akers has shut down questions about her plans for having children once and for all.
Kirsty, who appeared on the hit renovation show with her husband, Jesse Anderson, took to Instagram on December 13 to question “how old” a woman has to be “before people stop asking you if you’re having children”.
“Like, do you get to a certain age and people look at you and go, ‘Yeah, nah’?” she wondered.

“Or do they just keep asking? Will I be 65, and people say to me, ‘When are you guys gonna start a family? Hubby would make a great dad’. Or is there a cut off?”
Detailing that she and Jesse have been together “longer than [they] were ever apart”, Kirsty said they’ve “always made it pretty clear” that kids aren’t in their future.
However, the query of when they’re having children is the “number one question” they get asked.
“[I’m not] a maternal woman. No children, and [Jesse’s] the same. He’s worse than me,” she said. “People think it’s all me, but he’s worse than me. He doesn’t want children at all.”
In the comment section, a bunch of the country singer’s followers shared her sentiments.
“Good for you! I just don’t understand why people feel it’s even ok to ask this question,” one wrote. “The social expectations of marriage and children is so outdated.”
Another penned: “I’m 48 and never wanted kids. What I get asked now, ‘Are you ok not having kids?’ And ‘Are you happy without kids?’. I’m not maternal either. I enjoy my freedom.”
“I received this question my whole life. It’s a pretty nosey question if you ask me,” a third added.
Kirsty’s video comes after Big Brother VIP‘s Ellie Gonsalves copped heat online for sharing her list of 118 reasons why she doesn’t want kids.
