The Block’s Mimi Belperio has copped a bit of flak after making a few questionable decisions. She’s kinda the opposite of a fan-favourite, but she’s poured her heart out on Instagram to remind trolls that she’s still human — and she sees all your harsh comments online.

ICYMI, Mimi was at the centre of the cheating scandal that involved her, Brad Baker and his wife Kylie Baker. After Kylie overheard Brad flirting with Mimi and saying he would follow her OnlyFans account if she had one, Kylie and Brad quit The Block in spectacular fashion. She’s also been criticised for the way she’s treated her husband Kristian Belperio and for not helping out enough when renovating her house.

Last night, Mimi and Kristian’s Clubhouse room — a home cinema largely designed and executed by All Stars Alisa and Lysandra Fraser — gained a perfect score of 30. After winning the Clubhouse competition, Kristian and Mimi have been awarded a whopping $50,000 off their auction reserve price.

Mimi took to Instagram to both celebrate their win but also show the darker side of appearing on reality TV.

“Perfect scores are hard to come by on The Block and to have received three 10s from the judges last night was surreal. But ‘perfect’ would be the last word I’d use to describe my experience on and after the show. It was heavily flawed,” she wrote.

“I think that it’s important to remind ourselves that not one single person in this world is perfect and that we all make mistakes. It is something incredibly special about humans and it’s what makes us all interesting and unique individuals.

“But with these mistakes, gives each of us an opportunity to decide whether we want to learn from them or to make them again.”

The contestant admitted that she has seen some of the hate and vitriol thrown her way, and it has had an impact.

“As much as I try to avoid hurtful and hateful comments, I’ll read a few and it upsets me but I guess that’s the aim of the author. I found myself deleting all of the bad comments because I didn’t want anyone, including myself, to see them,” she said.

“But what I’ve come to realise is that removing them doesn’t show a true representation of the world that we live in. By keeping all of the positive and negative comments, it shows that nobody is perfect, everybody makes mistakes and we all say things driven by emotion.”

Mimi finished her Instagram Post by pleading with fans to remember “there are so many layers” to each of the contestants, and “it’s important to embrace all of it”.

Her post resonated with a bunch of past and present Blockheads, with her husband Kristian saying he was “so proud” of her and that he loved her. Guess there’s no hard feelings about the potential flirtation that went on!!

Alisa and Lysandra called Mimi a “freakin’ superstar” and said she was “genuine, fun and beautiful”, while Stephanie Ottavio said she was “proud” of Mimi.

Guess it’s a good reminder that no matter how ~dramatic~ things get on TV, there’s still real people behind your screen. Choose your words wisely!
