This year’s contestant’s on The Block walked away with over $8million in prize money between them during last weekends auction.

And now an insider has revealed that Channel Nine won’t be in a hurry hand over the cash.

According to the source, contestants on The Block receive their hard won earnings in instalments to protect the show’s ‘brand’.

‘You don’t get it for 12 months,’ former Blockheads told Yahoo Lifestyle on Monday.

‘It’s spread over that period so you don’t talk bad on the show and if so, you don’t get your money.’

In February 2024 Block fan favourites Eliza and Liberty revealed to the publication that they had not seen any of their $1.05 million prize money.

The pair had sold their East Hampton renovation on Auction Day for $4.3million.

Meanwhile, once the Blockheads do cash in they won’t have to pay tax on their prize money.

According to Australian tax regulations, contestants who win cash prizes in raffles, lotteries, and reality shows don’t need to declare their winnings.

It comes after serial bidder Adrian ‘Mr Lambo’ Portelli made history on Sunday night when he snapped up every Block home on Phillip Island for $15.03million.

Fan favourites Maddy and Charlotte Harry became the youngest-ever auction winners of The Block, taking home an eye-watering $1.65million profit on Sunday night’s nail-biting finale, with their renovated Phillip Island property selling for $3.5million.

Maddy, 24, and Charlotte, 22, also took home an extra $100,000 for their monumental victory, on their four-bedroom, three-bathroom home which had a $1.85million reserve.

The Sydney sisters entered into the heated 20th season midway through filming, after couple Paige Beechey and Jesse Maguire threw down their tools.

Meanwhile, their co-stars also walked away from the auction pocketing millions.

Courtney and Grant kicked off the auction day with a stunning victory, also selling their property to billionaire Adrian Portelli for a whopping $3.3million.

This sale gave the pair an incredible profit of $1.35million over their $1.95million reserve, instantly propelling them into The Block’s all-time high earners.

Kylie and Brad Baker also laughed all the way to the bank on auction day, with Portelli making another headline-grabbing purchase, securing Kylie and Brad’s property for $2.6 million.

The couple sensationally returned on Sunday night after the mother-of-four vowed she would never return to the Channel Nine show.

Kylie and Brad left the show with a very healthy $650,000 profit on their property’s $1,950,000 reserve.

Kristian and Mimi entered the auction with a strategic advantage, having secured a $50,000 reduction on their reserve.

Amid a flurry of bids, their property sold for $2.93 million to a buyer’s agent, earning the couple an impressive $1.03million profit and making them the second team this season to become instant millionaires.

Earlier in the episode, Ricky and Haydn were meanwhile visibly frustrated after drawing the fourth auction spot, with Ricky declaring it the ‘worst-case scenario.’

However, Adrian once again came to the rescue, snapping up their home for $2.7million.

This sale landed the boys a solid profit of $750,000, adding them to the season’s roster of big winners.

Throughout the series, Maddy and Charlotte found targets on their backs after revelations of their professional house-flipping experience emerged.

Maddy said she found watching the season difficult to watch because of how she and her sister were treated by the other stars.

She said reliving the experience had been ‘triggering’ as she claimed the other cast members treated them ‘cruelly’.

And since Sunday’s there has been claims by viewers that The Block is ‘rigged’.

The Melbourne-based sisters confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that they knew early on during filming for the series that Portelli had his eye on their property.

‘Adrian showed interest in all the houses from the start,’ said Charlotte.

‘We’d had quite a few conversations with Adrian over the past few weeks and spent some time together, so we knew he was keen on all the houses,’ she said.

‘It was surreal to watch it unfold, but we feel incredibly lucky he invested in ours.’
