Lawrence and the Kitchen Queens are dishing up bad vibes

Things are getting seriously spicy on the set of MKR Australia, with Lawrence Murphy and the self-titled “Kitchen Queens”, Janey Willox and Maddie Devereux, trading insults across the dinner table.

Going straight to the source, Woman’s Day spoke with the feisty foodie females to get their take on Swiss-born filmmaker Lawrence, 35, who recently told the Melbourne mother-daughter duo, “I hope your arrogance is pure confidence.”

Janey, 61, tell us, “Unfortunately, none of us can be inside another person’s head, so it’s not possible to know anyone’s true intentions.

“Other than feeling disappointed that the narrative went down this path, we can’t control what other people say. We’re comfortable with who we are.”

Asked how she feels about being portrayed as a villain, Maddie, 29, insists audiences only view a tiny portion of what is filmed.

“It’s really interesting to see how the show is put together,” she says. “There are plenty of times when the cast got on so well.

“I love my mum – she’s an incredible, strong and resilient woman with a heart of gold. First impressions in a pressure-cooker environment can be so misleading. I wish everyone could see my mum as her friends and our family do.”

Janey adds, “Some people are glass-half-full types, then there are those who are not. Life’s too short and precious to see the world like that.”

But her daughter notes, “In a competitive environment, everyone wants to gain an advantage. Mum and I are just so happy having the opportunity to be on MKR.”

MKR Australia screens 7.30pm Mondays and Tuesdays, and 7pm Sundays on TVNZ 2, streaming on TVNZ+.
