The Voice Australia’s fan-favourite of the season didn’t go into the blind auditions for 2024 quite as ‘blind’ as some of the other contestants.
Skye, 26, received four chair turns for his blind audition with a beautiful rendition of Billie Eilish‘s What Was I Made For? and has advanced to the knockout phase of the singing competition.
However, it wasn’t the singer’s first The Voice rodeo.
‘People always comment on my unique voice,’ Skye said in a promotional clip for the current series. ‘As much as I love singing, I think there’s a little bit of doubt when it comes to just being loud.’
The Melbourne-born performer also said he wondered if his voice is ‘good enough’ in the clip shared to his TikTok, which has nearly 50K followers.
‘How come you didn’t talk about being on The Voice in 2015?’ one series fan commented.
Skye previously competed on The Voice Australia nine years ago, when he was just 17, under his birth name Nicholas Duquemin.
Nicholas turned two chairs in 2015 by auditioning with Beyonce‘s song XO and received a fast pass to skip the next round of the competition.
He’s quickly become a fan favourite on this year’s season of The Voice, but viewers have been left stunned after discovering that Skye (pictured) isn’t a stranger to the singing competition
He decided to join Delta Goodrem’s team over Benji Madden’s, but was eliminated shortly afterwards in the first live competition round following a performance of King by Years and Years.
Notably, now-coach Adam Lambert featured on the episode where Nicholas was eliminated to deliver a guest performance.
‘Am I tripping OR aren’t these two the same person? Nicolas Duquemin from Team Delta in Season 4 and Skÿe from Team Guy?’ one person posted on X alongside a side-by-side of the two auditions.

‘He originally competed on season four,’ another fan confirmed.
Meanwhile a third said, ‘Only just noticed you were on The Voice in 2015,’ and congratulated the singer on how much he had improved.
Some fans have even gone so far as to claim the thirteenth season of the series has been ‘rigged’ after they spotted Skye’s face in a series of advertisements for Afterpay.
Viewers have previously complained that Channel Seven hasn’t been airing all of the performances in the knockout ‘battle’ rounds for limited spots in the competition.

Rather, some contestants’ performances were cut short while others received more air time.
On Sunday night, Skye and Eden faced off against one another although they both are Team Guy.
Judges Guy Sebastian and Adam Lambert both found flaws in Skye’s performance of Yesterday by The Beatles, but he was ultimately declared the winner.
Cue the social media tirade.

‘Eden was way better in my honest opinion,’ one fan wrote on X, formally known as Twitter.
‘Guy’s an idiot for letting her slip through,’ said another on Facebook. ‘She could have won!’
But the fan furore was nothing compared to when viewers discovered that Skye had actually begun appearing in paid advertisements for AfterPay before the season kicked off.
‘I think he wins it, cause there is nobody else doing ads and he does the AfterPay ad. I’m not saying he does but it’s weird,’ one person wrote.
