The Voice Australia fans were shocked when Guy Sebastian announced earlier this week he would be leaving his role as a coach on the reality show in 2025. The singer, who has been sitting in the famous red chair for the past six years, said he needed to take a break to focus on writing and performing new music.

Now, an insider tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Guy isn’t the only coach who has decided not to return next season with Kate Miller-Heidke and Adam Lambert also saying goodbye. Channel Seven is said to be in the final stages of locking in their new line-up, which includes three returning coaches alongside LeAnn Rimes.

“The line-up that Channel Seven wants is Keith Urban, Jessica Mauboy, Ronan Keating and LeAnn Rimes,” confirms our source at the network. “They’ve all been on the show before and conversations had started a few months back.”

LeAnn Rimes joined The Voice Australia for the first time this year and took out the win with her contestant Reuben De Melo. The Grammy-award-winning superstar, who also recently appeared as a coach on The Voice UK, will be the only coach from this year’s season returning in 2025.

“In the lead-up to this year’s finale, LeAnn’s management kept talking about the next series and what she plans to do differently,” our source shares. “LeAnn was clear about her ambition to return next year and Channel Seven are keen to have her back after her artist won.”

Keith Urban was one of the original coaches on The Voice Australia in 2012 and returned for back-to-back seasons in 2021 and 2022. He recently made a surprise appearance on the show when he performed at this year’s finale, which is where he is said to have expressed interest in returning as a coach.

“Keith was asked about returning when he recorded a performance for the grand finale and he sounded open to the idea – as long as it works with his wife Nicole Kidman’s plans to be back in Australia at the same time,” our source details.

“He kicks off an arena tour around Australia in August 2025, so the timing should work out quite well and give him extra promotion.”

Jessica Mauboy appeared as a coach on The Voice Australia from 2021 to 2023 and left the series this year to release, promote and tour her fifth studio album ‘Yours Forever’.

“There were always plans to bring Jess back at some point and viewers really missed her contribution this season,” our insider says.

“The conversation about Jess had been on the cards with or without Guy. It seemed the network was already looking at flipping Kate Miller-Heidke, who seemed a little out of place on the show.”

Rounding out the supposed 2025 line-up is Irish singer Ronan Keating, who appeared on season five of The Voice Australia back in 2016.

While he had also built a presence in Australia as a judge on The X Factor Australia from 2010 to 2014 and All Together Now in 2018, he has since done the rounds as a Voice coach around the world appearing on both The Voice Kids UK and The Voice Germany.

The international star is said to have had his eye on returning to The Voice for quite some time and was “waiting in the wings” for when Guy left.

“Ronan had been on The Voice Australia back when it was on Channel Nine and he really enjoyed his time in the red chair,” our source shares. “His wife Storm is an Aussie and the family all love being in their mum’s home country, and Ronan goes where the work is.

“One thing is for sure The Voice Australia will go on without Guy Sebastian and 2025 looks set to have one of the best line-ups without him.”

Channel Seven is expected to officially announce the 2025 lineup for The Voice Australia at their upcoming Upfront event this month.
