Anthony Edwards trashtalk

On Thursday night, the Dallas Mavericks secured their NBA Finals berth after vanquishing the Timberwolves in just 5 games. While Anthony Edwards guaranteed there would be a game 6, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving made that an afterthought with their blistering performances. The 124-103 win only shows the dominance on display by the Dallas side, which gave Ant-Man enough reasons to be livid.

Recently, leaked audio from the match surfaced online where Anthony Edwards is clearly seen as a frustrated figure. The blunt force of his anger was pointed towards his teammates who were not passing the ball enough to him, according to the T’wolves guard. “This n****s talking about passing the ball and sht… F**k out of here. Pass me the fing ball,” a dejected Edwards said while walking back to the bench. He vented at the Mavs as well when he was heard saying, “I’m better than these n****s, man. Those ns can’t f**k with me.”

The audio might seem that Edwards was harsh towards his teammates, but that can be credited to the 22-year-old’s competitive instinct, who just hates losing. His loyalty to his teammates was proved thoroughly when he led the Timberwolves to a boycott.

Anthony Edwards and Timberwolves Boycott “Inside the NBA”

The famous gameday show on TNT has been a staple fixture. The panel of Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson made the viewing experience captivatingly hilarious with their antics and analysis. The recent inclusion of the Warriors center Draymond Green increased that even further.

But that was reason enough for the Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards to boycott the show. The decision was made after the constant slandering of Rudy Gobert by the former DPOY winner, which sometimes seemed biased.

“The decision was a sign of support for Gobert and Towns, who were the subject of derisive and seemingly personal criticism from panelist and Golden State forward Draymond Green,” wrote Shams Charania of The Athletic

No Timberwolves player attended an interview with the show following game 4 of the series, which shows the unity in the group surrounding Anthony Edwards. Karl-Anthony Towns has also been ridiculed by the “Inside The NBA” panel, and, understandably, the players decided to boycott in a show of solidarity.

Despite the WCF loss to the Mavericks, the Timberwolves proved to be a force to reckon with Anthony Edwards leading from the front. Their sweep of the Suns and upset over the Nuggets can only signal a better future for the Minnesota franchise, as Chris Finch and Co. would like to build on the foundations of this season.
