In a recent interview on NBA Today with Malika Andrews and Richard Jefferson, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd claimed that Luka
Doncic could become “the greatest Maverick ever” if he wins a championship.
When asked if Luka has a chance at being named the greatest Maverick ever if he wins the championship this season, Kidd responded, “Yes…Yes.”
“It’s Not Who Starts, It’s Who Finishes”
Kidd also discussed the lethal Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving partnership, which has been a nightmare for the opposition this season.
“If you were playing with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the same Dallas team, who’s coming off the bench?” Malika Andrews asked.
“Me, I’m coming off the bench. I’m going to come off the bench. But it’s not who starts; it’s who finishes. So all three of us would finish. Yeah, because we can’t sit Luka or Kai“, Kidd responded.
Jason Kidd shared his Mantra for the NBA finals
Andrews asked Kidd about his mentality and strategy before starting the NBA finals. Kidd said that Dallas’s start to the season was tough because they were initially more focused on offense and then transitioned to defense. He mentioned that he plans to keep the same strategy and prioritize defense in the NBA finals.
“We are going to continue talking about defense. We started the season off talking about offense, and we made a pivot to playing defense. The guys have bought into it, and they are. Even Luka and Kai are playing defense at a high level for us, and that’s why we are here“
In a recent interview, Kidd was asked about the key factor contributing to Doncic’s success in the NBA. Kidd responded, stating that Doncic’s early professional experiences enabled him to perform on a large stage.
