Stephen Curry, LeBron James and other NBA All-Stars look on from the court.

Stephen Curry in his 15-season-long career with the Golden State Warriors has won many hoop lover’s hearts and made it to the majority’s top ten all-time list of NBA players, but not Tracy McGrady’s.

Recently, when T-Mac was asked about Buttcrack Sports declaring Curry as the top 5 player of all time, the Houston Rockets great replied, “No, he’s tripping on that. He hasn’t cracked my top 10 yet. He just hasn’t. I think Steph has had a phenomenal career. I mean, obviously four championships, two league MVPs, he has an [NBA] Finals MVP.”

Justifying his view about Curry, McGrady added, “But if you go back in his career and if you look at when Draymond is out of the lineup for the season, if you look at [when] Klay Thompson has missed the season, or half of that season, to me, if you’re that great, if you’re gonna be a top-five [player], and one of your guys is missing and you can’t make the playoffs, I can’t put you in [my] top five or top 10. I just can’t.”

Though the former swingman acknowledged Stephen Curry as one of the greatest shooters, he believes the Warriors superstar failed to elevate his team without his closest teammates Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

McGrady is not the only one to comment on Curry’s abilities. Recently, even Gilbert Arenas riled up the social media fans by questioning the 4-time champion’s exceptional talent. Despite the sharpshooter ignoring it, his brand came back with a response to defend the Warriors guard.

Under Armour Responds to TMac’s Stephen Curry Snub

After Tracy McGrady posted the reel on Instagram, it stirred an intense reaction from the Warriors leader’s loyalists, who disagreed with the 45-year-old. Among them were Stephen Curry’s brands, Curry Brand and Under Armour.

While Under Armour (@uabasketball) wrote, “Between this and Gill [Arenas] the internet has lost its damn mind. I’m signing off” along with a peace emoji, Curry Brand took a dig at T-Mac’s championship trophy-less career by commenting “4>0”, reminding McGrady that Steph has 4 championship trophies whereas he has none.

The criticisms do not take away anything from what Curry has earned in his NBA journey. Despite not being in his prime, the 10-time All-Star has been rewarded with the 2024 Clutch Player Of The Year and will soon be appearing alongside star players to represent the USA Team in the Paris Olympics.
