Mikal Bridges, Houston Rockets

According to the latest report by Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Houston Rockets are interested in trading the No. 3 pick to Brooklyn for Mikal Bridges. O’Connor reported that the Rockets are in discussions with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Brooklyn Nets to negotiate the

trade involving Bridges.

“League sources say the Rockets have had a conversation with the Grizzlies about trading down from this pick and that the Rockets hold out hope that the Nets would be willing to move Mikal Bridges for it. However, those same sources say the Nets prefer to add pieces around Bridges.  Houston stays put, (Donovan) Clingan or Reed Sheppard seem to be the most likely picks, O’Connor wrote.

The Houston Rockets Made An Offer to the Nets in March

At the end of March, the Nets reportedly rejected an offer for Mikal Bridges. The Rockets made the Nets an offer for Bridges in return for Jalen Green and a couple of first-round choices. But the franchise, who believed in the young player, did not find the offer exciting.

The Houston Rockets and their fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming season for the team’s roster. However, there are also reasons to believe they shouldn’t get too comfortable. By trading Bridges to the Rockets, the Nets can rectify mistakes made by the front office and regain their lottery pick.

The Rockets have not made the NBA playoffs for the past four seasons. Despite finishing the season strongly, they fell five games short of the final play-in spot behind the Golden State Warriors. Bridges averaged 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.0 steals in 82 games last season.
