Australian music royalty Guy Sebastian has sent shockwaves around the entertainment industry announcing he will hang up the boots on The Voice.
Australian singer and songwriter Guy Sebastian will walk away from popular TV show The Voice to turn his attention to “getting back” to touring Australia and the world.
Sebastian took to Instagram on Wednesday to tell his followers of his decision to give up judging duties.
“I have made the decision to take a break from the best red chair on the planet,” he said to his fans on the social media platform.
“It’s been six amazing years as a coach and it’s honestly been the best gig ever!
“I have nothing but good things to say about the show itself, and sharing the panel with such amazing coaches has been a pleasure.”
Many took to his comment section to congratulate the former judge on his appearances on The Voice.
“One of the best mate. You say it like it is and you genuinely care. Congrats on an amazing six years,” artist Lachie Gill said.
“Congratulations on six years. A great Australian voice on The Voice,” singer Anthony Callea wrote.
“Always important for an artist to take a break and get back into the creativity!,” one fan said.

The seven-time ARIA award winner said it was time to focus on his core, going back to writing and performing new music.
“I am busy planning shows in Australia & worldwide & I am really looking forward to getting out and connecting with you all there,” he said.
“For too long now, I have been reading comments from you asking when I will be visiting your town/country & it’s high time I come and visit!
“I’ve worked on this upcoming album for four years & I’ve poured everything I have into it, so I need to pay respect to that effort & the art I’ve created.”
The 2003 Australian Idol winner congratulated the winner of The Voice season 13, while acknowledging the privilege of working with the next best home-grown talent.
“Congrats to Reuben De Melo on his win on The Voice this year, SO deserved,” he said.
“It’s been a privilege to guide the next wave of Aussie talent alongside the wonderful teams & crew at Channel 7 & ITV studios!
“The best thing about the show is how positive it is & how much care and passion goes into making it a safe place for artists.”
The 43-year-old closed off his Instagram post by joking he might be back on The Voice if any of the judges got too comfortable.
“Whoever has the audacity to take my chair, don’t get too comfortable… I will wrestle for it back with zero dignity when I’m ready to return, he said.
“Thank you everyone, it’s been a blast & let’s keep supporting fresh Aussie talent – it’s some of the best in the world!”
