Furious Coldplay fans have criticised the band for forcing audiences to watch a Welcome to Country ceremony before their sold-out concert.
Irate music lovers have taken to social media to accuse the band of ‘politicising’ their concerts by hosting the ceremony before they perform.
At the start of their Melbourne concert at Marvel Stadium last week, Aboriginal elders came on stage to pay their respects to the traditional owners of the land where the show was held.
‘So now they’re bringing politics into concerts!’ one fan sniped on Facebook.
A second person added: ‘This is a beyond a joke.’
‘Seriously, when will this stop!’ someone else chipped in.
‘Welcome to Country is the biggest turnoff,’ another person wrote.

It is usually performed by a local Aboriginal elder to acknowledge and provide consent for events occurring on traditional lands.
Coldplay’s Chris Martin touched down in Sydney on Monday, alongside his father Anthony, as the band continues their Australia tour.
The lead singer, 47, appeared injury-free as he emerged from the private jet after he fell through a trap door on stage during their final Melbourne show.
Martin was reading out audience signs and walking backwards during a break in the show when he tumbled through a hole in front of the shocked crowd.
In footage shared to social media, the concertgoers were heard gasping as Martin stumbled out of view.

The Yellow singer is then heard reassuring fans, ‘That’s not planned’, before adding, ‘Thank you for catching me’ to a production hand underneath the stage.
Following the incident, Martin continued on with the show.
Meanwhile, the band’s first Melbourne show was derailed on Wednesday night after one band member suffered a health emergency.
In a career first, Martin announced the band would be playing their first show in Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium without bassist Guy Berryman after he was struck down by an illness.
During the concert, Martin said: ‘We will have a slightly different show and we’ll do our best to make it amazing because we are in Melbourne with all you beautiful people.’
‘If you see some mistakes and problems, it’s because we don’t have our bass player. You won’t see Guy tonight because he is vomiting,’ the singer added.
Taking to Instagram after the show on Wednesday night, the band thanked their fans for understanding.
‘Tonight was the first time in our band’s history that we’ve played a show without all four members onstage. Guy was taken ill unexpectedly just before the show. Thank you for carrying us through it.’

Coldplay continue their tour by performing in Sydney at Accor Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday night.
The band are currently in Australia on their Spheres World Tour which sees the band make four night stands at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and Sydney‘s Olympic Park.
But it’s been a long time between Aussie east coast gigs for the Yellow hitmakers who last hit Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney for their 2016 A Head Full Of Dreams Tour.
The band returned Down Under last year but confined themselves to two shows on the west coast at Perth‘s Optus Stadium.
